About This Tool
Translate PDF turns your bilingual reading problem into a two-click job. Upload a PDF, pick a target language, and get a translated document with the original pages preserved as a visual reference - charts, diagrams, signatures and scans stay exactly where they were.
Two output modes fit different workflows: the bilingual edition interleaves each original page with its translation (ideal for academic reading and cross-checking terminology), while the translated edition gives you a clean translated-only file.
Like every tool on PDFEditorFree, the PDF file itself is processed entirely in your browser and never uploaded to a server. To translate the wording, the extracted text is sent to an online translation service - the disclosure is shown in the tool before you start.
How to Use
Upload Your PDF
Drag and drop a text-based PDF (scanned documents without selectable text are not supported), choose the source and target languages.
Translate
Click translate and watch the progress: pages are parsed locally, text blocks are translated online, then the translated pages are composed.
Preview and Download
Check the first-page preview, then download either the translated-only PDF or the interleaved bilingual edition.
Use Cases

Frequently Asked Questions
Is my PDF uploaded to a server?
No. The PDF is parsed and rendered entirely in your browser. Only the extracted text strings are sent to an online translation service to produce the wording.
Why is the output text not selectable?
This version composes translated pages as high-resolution images so translated Chinese, Japanese and Korean text renders correctly everywhere. Use PDFEditorFree’s other tools if you need to annotate on top of the result.
Does it work with scanned PDFs?
No. Scanned pages have no selectable text to extract. Run them through an OCR tool first, then translate the OCR output.
Which languages are supported?
English, Chinese (Simplified), Japanese, Korean, Spanish, French, German, Portuguese and Russian, in any direction, with automatic source-language detection.
Is there a page or size limit?
Files up to 50 MB and the first 50 pages are translated in this version. Larger documents may hit browser memory limits.
